Being in the moment is the heart of Sumi-e, it originated in China then was adopted by the Japanese. "Black ink painting" is imagining Nature's hidden vitality-it's life force. This is what intrigues me most, finding a way to show with symbolic brush marks my reverence for Nature.

All my paintings are, or mostly, Indian Ink on Xuan, Unryu or Mulberry paper that I order from China through stores from California.
I may add other mediums, collage for a spice or jewel of color and texture.
All art is "varnished" with a cold wax medium that I hand rub on to the dry surface. Then I don't have to use glass.
I present each painting in a black floater frame, or mount on a cradle board 1 1/2"thick for a minimal 'no frame" look.
I live in Bellevue and have a studio in Georgetown, south of the stadiums in Seattle.
Free Parking in front of the Blue Building.
