Exploring Lake Victoria, Uganda
Born in Washington State, raised in different parts of the world, Sallie’s motive for creating art includes the desire to share the world she’s experienced with others. It also includes a passion for figuring out how to express an image, a mood, a concept, a vision, a prayer, visually.
Sallie has her BA degree in Art and Education with a major in oil painting. At present she prefers water media, collage and drawing. A piece that starts as a watercolor may end up with buttons and beads, colored pencil, acrylic gouache, and ink lines added. “Art is an adventure in discovery where there are no mistakes, only intriguing puzzles to solve and the pleasure of creating something new out of an idea. When a painting ceases to be a pleasurable challenge, it’s a sign for me to reevaluate my focus, literal and figurative.”
