I feel one of my roles in life is to share the scenes of beauty I see around me. When I’m with other people I often call out, "Look!" As a painter, I do the same thing, pointing out sights I have enjoyed.
I want to stop the viewer, draw him/her into my painting, to an awareness of what is right with the world. If the viewer’s mind can travel, to new places, or to places visited before, I have done my job right. If I can add to someone’s day an oasis of peace and repose, I am happy.
Sally M. Rawlings has an undergraduate background in foreign languages, Oriental studies and art history, and has studied art at the Chicago Art Institute and Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, at Colorado Mountain College, Coupeville Arts Center, and with a variety of instructors in Colorado and Washington.
Currently residing in Seattle, Sally is a member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, the Art Stall Gallery Co-op and Seattle CoArts. Her work can be viewed at the Art Stall Gallery at Pike Place Market in Seattle, and at her home studio, by appointment. Sally is also a frequent exhibitor of paintings in Steamboat Springs.
